The program is open to all individuals who are passionate about Chinese character culture and appreciate traditional Chinese culture, regardless of their age, profession, or background. Participation is especially encouraged from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, including joint submissions by families, teacher-student groups, and associations.

All submissions should closely revolve around the program theme, “Chinese Characters Across the Strait: Painting a Shared Heart.” Chinese characters should serve as the core creative medium. We encourage the integration of diverse art forms, including seal carving, calligraphy, posters and graphic design, installation art, digital video and digital art, and painting. Submissions should demonstrate creativity, artistry, and cultural depths, highlighting both the enduring richness and contemporary vitality of Chinese characters.
All works should adhere to the program theme, center on Chinese characters, and explore the ideas of shared cultural origins and mutual understanding across the Taiwan Strait. Submissions will be evaluated across three key dimensions:
1. Cultural depths
Delve into the historical origins, cultural meaning, and cultural values embodied in Chinese characters.
2. Creative expression
Integrate diverse artistic forms to showcase the contemporary vitality and modern appeal of Chinese characters.
3. Emotional connection
Convey a deep appreciation for traditional Chinese culture, highlighting the shared cultural identity and profound resonance between people on both sides of the Strait.
·Videos should ideally be between one and three minutes in length and must not exceed eight minutes. Content should be concise and well-paced. There are no restrictions on language.
·Videos must be submitted in MP4 format, with a maximum file size of 300 MB and a resolution of 1080p. The footage should be clean and free of logos, watermarks, or other unrelated identifiers.
·Submitted images should show the completed work in full, such as high-resolution posters, complete photographs of calligraphy works, high-resolution images of paintings, or full views of installation artworks, with all details clearly visible.
·Images must have an aspect ratio of 3:4 or A4, be submitted in JPG or PNG format, and have a minimum width of 1080 pixels on the shorter side.
The submitted image must correspond to the final artwork shown in the video. Each submission should include a written description of no more than 200 words, explaining the creative concept and interpretation of the selected Chinese characters. The description should be clear, concise, and accurate.
Award-winning works will be awarded a provincial-level honor certificate authenticated by the Hunan Songdan Chinese Character Art Museum. Selected works will be prioritized for both online and offline exhibitions. Outstanding creators may be invited to Changsha to participate in study programs, and receive related subsidies.
Outstanding cultural and creative designs will be included in the “Cross-Strait Cultural and Creative Co-Development Plan,” allowing creators to benefit from future commercial returns. All selected works will be featured in an official art book and promoted through major domestic and international media and social platforms.
Award recipients will be given priority access to opportunities to collaborate with the Hunan Songdan Chinese Character Art Museum, including cultural product development, exhibition, and resource matchmaking. Outstanding digital works will be selected for long-term display on the museum's digital platform.
Instructors, including teachers, industry professionals, and creators, who provide guidance to award-winning individual or team works, will receive the Outstanding Instructor Award. They will be recommended to official cross-strait cultural exchange programs and the museum's key annual cooperation projects. Their contributions will be archived as exemplary cases in the museum's cross-cultural communication database and promoted.
